AMD`s the 5W Fusion APU to put in your future tablet of choice
The same Singapore event Z brought us our 1st look @ AMD’s humongous Radeon HD 6990`s also served as the stage 4 the company’s 1st show`g of the new, even lower-powered Fusion APU. The regular dual-core Ontario ( C-50 ) variant requires the 9W power budget to operate, although (unless) AMD’s managed to shrink Z down to 5W in the chip designed specifically to B used in tablets. Clock speed remains @ 1GHz & the core count hasn’t bee touched, although (unless) the memory controller`s`en dumbed down & peripheral ports`ve`en reduced to 1 of each type. This streamlined C-50`s already found the home in Acer’s 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet &`ldprove decently popular among manufacturers look`g 4 an x86 alternative to the com`g tidal wave of ARM-based devices.
