Android still`s horrible text messag`g bugs that’ll get U fired, busted, or otherwise embarrassed
Pardon us if the headline`s the little sensational, although (unless) this`s 1 Z we’ve personally experienced — & it’s not pretty. 4 @ least the last couple versions, Android`s`en plagued w/ the couple extremely serious bugs in its text messag`g subsystem Z can ultimately end up caus`g U to text the wrong contact — even contacts Z you’ve never texted before. There appear to B the few failure modes; the 1 V definitely experience on the Gingerbread -powered Nexus S involves be`g routed to the wrong thread when U tap it either in the Notifications list or the master thread list in the Messag`g application, so if U don’t notice, you’ll end up fir`g the message to the wrong person. More seriously, though, there’s also an open issue in Android’s bug track`g system — inexplicably marked “medium” priority — where sent text messages can appear to B in the correct thread & still end up be`g sent to another contact altogether. In other words, unless U pull up the Message Details screen after the fact, U might not even know the grievous act you’ve committed until your boss, significant other, or best friend — make Z former best friend — texts U back. There seem to`ve`en some attempts on Google’s part over the year to fix it; V can’t confirm Z it still happens in 2.3, although (unless) 4 what it’s worth, the issue hasn’t`en marked resolved in Google Code… & it`s opened some six months ago. This`s akin to an alarm clock Z occasionally won’t go off ( we’ve`en there ) or the car Z randomly won’t let U turn the steer`g wheel — U simply cannot`ve the phone Z U can’t trust to communicate w/ the right people.
