Fox blackout on Cablevision ends after 14 day standoff, glar`g contest continues on
Evidently miss`g the 1st 2 games of the World Series`s about all Cablevision thought it subscribers could take, as news just hit the wire: the fourteen-day standoff`s over & both tonight’s game 3 of the World Series & tomorrow’s Jets vs Packers game R available to subscribers. While these carriage disputes R pretty common, it`s very rare 4 channels to B pulled & downright unheard of 4 the channel as popular as Fox. It came to this because Cablevision`s very unhappy about News Corp’s new terms & after many pleas to the FCC & politicians to intervene, an advertis`g campaign , & eventually an unaccepted offer to match the price Z Time Warner Cable pays , the deal`s finally`en done. Not exactly all’s well Z ends well, though, as Cablevision released the follow`g statement: “In the absence of any meaningful action from the FCC, Cablevision`s agreed to pay Fox an unfair price 4 multiple channels of its programm`g includ`g many in which our customers`ve little or no interest.” Talk about sour grapes. Well @ least V can hope Z Cablevision’s efforts paid off the little bit & your cable bill won’t go up as much as it would’ve if the outage never occurred to begin with. V can hope.
