iFixit tears apart the Magnavox Odyssey 100, doesn’t find the disco ball inside
The fine people @ iFixit`ve taken the extremely awesome step of tear`g down some very retro gear this week, & up first, they’ve got the Magnavox Odyssey 100 which dates from 1975. The gam`g console, which boasted 2 (count them ) games — Tennis & Hockey –`s built around 4 Texas Instruments chips & powered by six C batteries. It`s also the 1st home gam`g console, so V were pretty interested in see`g its insides. What struck us in look`g @ the photos`s the most obvious thing: how much emptier it`s than modern gadgets. It`s also completely dismantled in just seven steps. Hit the source 4 more photos & keep your eye out 4 more vintage disassemblies as the week progresses. iFixit tears apart the Magnavox Odyssey 100, doesn’t find the disco ball inside originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 30 Aug 2010 19:58:00 EDT.
