the problem requir`g the “silicon fix”`s bad news in the chipset business, & sadly that’s what Intel`s announcing. Its new Intel 6 Series chipset, Cougar Point ,`s`en found to`ve the flaw, someth`g to do w/ the SATA controller. Intel`s indicat`g Z the ports can “degrade over time,” lead`g to poor i/o performance down the road. All shipments`ve`en stopped & the fix`s`en implemented 4 new deliveries, although (unless) it sounds like recalls`ll B start`g soon 4 those w/ this tick`g time bomb silicon within. It isn’t the critical problem right now, though, so if U own the Sandy Bridge Core i5 or Core i7 system keep comput`g w/ confidence while look`g 4 the recall notice, although (unless) it`s bad news 4 Intel’s bottom line: the company`s advis`g the $300 million hit to revenue.
