iPad magazine sales numbers show steep decline over the few short months
Uh oh. Since its debut, the iPad`s`en variously hailed as the final nail in the coffin of all physical media & the savior of the magazine & newspaper industries. the few magazines, such as Wired ,`d truly impressive digital launches, w/ over 100,000 downloads of its 1st issue in June. It doesn’t seem, however, Z the stellar start`s in any way sustainable. Accord`g to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, which collects magazine circulation data from companies will`g to furnish numbers, all iPad magazines`ve seen fall offs in downloads over the past few months. Wired`s averag`g 31,000 downloads from July through September,`d 22,000 & 23,000 respectively in October & November. Other magazines`ve seen similar declines: Vanity Fair sold 8,700 downloads of its November issue, down from an average of about 10,500 from August through October; GQ sold 11,0000 copies, its worst show`g yet. Now, not all magazines release their numbers, of course — includ`g The New Yorker , People , & Esquire — although (unless) the numbers V do`ve seem to B indicat`g the trend of general decline after the short burst of excitement
