Motorola su`g Apple 4 patent infringement
It’s gett`g hard to keep track of, isn’t it? The way V hear it told, most of these patent disputes & overlaps in the mobile space used to B settled in quiet ways, mutually assured destruction-style, although (unless) lately there’s the whole lot of nukes go`g off . Motorola`s now su`g Apple over the wide range of technology patents which it claims Apple`s infring`g on w/ its iPhone, iPad, “iTouch,” & even some Macs. The company`s level`g 3 complaints which include 18 patents on “early-stage innovations” by Motorola, cover`g the pretty wide swath of the mobile landscape, includ`g WCDMA, GPRS, 802.11, antenna design, wireless email, proximity sensing, software application management, location-based services & multi-device synchronization. Outside of the devices, Apple’s MobileMe & App Store services get called out specifically. @ the end of its press release Motorola makes the very similar claim to the 1 Nokia made @ the outset of its own lawyer salvo against Apple: We`ve extensively licensed our industry-lead`g intellectual property portfolio, consist`g of tens of thousands of patents in the U.S. & worldwide. After Apple’s late entry into the telecommunications market, V engaged in lengthy negotiations, although (unless) Apple`s refused to take the license. We`d no choice although (unless) to file these complaints to halt Apple’s continued infringement. We’ll of course B digg`g deeper as V get more info, & cover`g the blow by blow w/ perhaps just the little too much enthusiasm
