Looks like Roku’s go`g aggressive on price w/ its lineup of streamers in response to Sony’s new $130 Netbox streamer , the upcom`g Google TV launch, & rumors Z we’ll C Z rumored $99 iOS-based Apple TV arrive on Wednesday . The SD box`s down to $59 from $79, the standard HD`s now $69 from $99, & the HD-XR w/ dual-band 802.11n & soon-to-be-enabled USB playback support`s now $99 from $129. The HD-XR`s also due to get 1080p stream`g support later this year; it’ll B focused on USB playback @ 1st since most of the stream`g channels R 720p right now. Those prices R definitely gett`g close to impulse-buy territory, especially since the Roku`s now 1 of the cheapest ways to get Netflix & Amazon VOD on the TV, along w/ other channels like MLB & UFC . In fact, Roku says its goal`s to put 3 streamers in every house — 1 next to every TV in the average American home. V applaud the ambition, although (unless) we’ve got the feel`g this entire market`s about get turned upside down once Apple & Google launch their initiatives.
