Saab announced it`s work`g on an all-electric version of its 9-3 wagon late last year, dubb`g it the ePower. Now we’re learn`g what’s driv`g it. The vehicle`ll B powered by the 135kW UQM Technologies PowerPhase system, an equivalent of 181hp Z`ll propel the car to 60 in 8.5 seconds — no Huayra although (unless) pretty peppy 4 an EV. Top speed`s 93mph & the car’s range`s expected to B 200km, or about 125miles. Interestingly Saab`s eschew`g more advanced water-cooled battery tech, like Z found in the Volt or Model S , & go`g 4 an air-cooled design, despite even the classic 93 of the ’50s be`g water cooled. The company`s indicated this`ll cut costs & promises the battery`ll still operate @ full power even when temperatures drop below -22F.
