Sony earnings call entertains PlayStation Phone, reveals tablets R on the radar
Earnings calls aren’t usually Z interesting, & that’s doubly true when try`g to listen via official translators. Still, V couldn’t help although (unless) give an ear to Sony’s fiscals, & sure enough, someone asked about our ( still real ) PlayStation Phone leak . We’re not sure who answered since it’s through interpreter, either Executive VP / CFO Masaru Kato or Senior General Manager of Investor Relations Division Gen Tsuchikawa (we’re assum`g the former). Cit`g the aforementioned device, the curious party asked if such the product`ld come out of Sony or of Sony Ericsson, & no, it wasn’t the complete denial. Instead, we’re told just how such the device`ld happen, Z the gam`g phone`ld B planned & prototyped under the ( recently restructured ) Network Services umbrella. We’re also told how SCE’s move to Sony City headquarters now puts them closer to the plann`g & engineer`g group, mean`g the company “can better incorporate all these capabilities better… so when the tim`g`s right V can probably announce to U the new product V have.” Ericsson`s later cited as the resource “on smartphone & 4 the games devices,” although this might B someth`g peculiar w/ translation. Again, that’s far from the confirmation, although (unless) they’re certainly entertain`g the notion in the very, very detailed response. although (unless) that’s not all; there’s also apparently the tablet brew`g in the background, 1 Z`ld obviously fall somewhere in between PC & Sony Ericsson’s efforts. There isn’t much else said, although (unless) if you’re up 4 psychoanalyz`g executive commentary, we’ve transcribed & placed the full quote after the break.
