LG Optimus 2X & Optimus Black priced @ €499 by Amazon Germany, not yet available to buy

Amazon’s German outlet`s started list`g LG’s 2 latest & undoubtedly greatest phones: the Optimus 2X (seemingly renamed the Optimus Speed here) & the Optimus Black . Both run Android 2.2 on 4-inch screens, w/ the former offer`g the dual-core Tegra 2 processor capable of 1080p video record`g & HDMI output , & the latter crank`g up the display brightness to the quite unreasonable 700 nits. The Optimus Black also`s 1 of the thinnest profiles on the smartphone of its class @ 9.2mm, and`ll B 1 of the 1st phones to offer WiFi Direct connectivity . Intriguingly, Amazon’s Optimus Speed / 2X list`g also shows the brown color option 4 the handset, though only its black SKU`s subject to the neat €50 discount bring`g its price to €499, the same as the cost of the Optimus Black. V don’t know when either one`ll drop, although (unless) U can go & reserve yourself 1 (or the dozen) @ the links below. Razer trots out mildly overhauled DeathAdder Black Edition USB gam`g mouse

When you’ve got the good th`g rolling, why stop? That’s the mantra applied to Razer’s latest, which`s actually the 3rd DeathAdder to B released. U may remember the original slink`g out way back in 2006 , w/ the southpaws in attendance finally gett`g 1 of their own in March of last year. Today, in order to celebrate the device’s Wood Anniversary, Razer’s loos`g the USB-connected DeathAdder Black Edition. 4 all intents & purposes, this`s the same DeathAdder Z V came to love last decade, although (unless) w/ an ever-so-slightly tweaked design Z adds non-slip rubber sides & an all-black finish. NASA consider`g beamed energy propulsion 4 space launches

Truth B told, it probably does take the rocket scientist to truly understand the scope of what NASA`s currently investigating, although (unless) the gist of it isn’t hard to grok. America’s premiere space agency`s purportedly examin`g the possibility of us`g beamed energy propulsion to launch spacecraft into orbit, & while we’ve seen objects lofted by mere beams before , us`g the laser to leave the atmosphere`s the whole ‘nother ballgame. The reasons R fairly obvious: the laser-based propulsion system`ld effectively nix the chance of an explosive chemical reaction tak`g place @ launch, & it`ld “make possible the reusable single-stage rocket Z`s 2 to 5 times more payload space than conventional rockets, which`ld cut the cost of send`g payloads into low-Earth orbit.” We’re told Z the study`ldB concluded by March, although (unless) only heaven knows how long it’ll B before V C any of this black magic used to launch rockets. Sadly, V can’t expect any Moon missions to rely on lasers 4 @ least 50 or so years, although (unless) we’re guess`g Z timeline could B shortened dramatically if Sir Richard Branson were to get involved. BlackBerry Storm 3 shows up again, track`g 4 September launch?

RIM’s mythical BlackBerry Storm 3`s 1 of those products Z shows up every few months w/ just enough new information to`ve U believ`g Z it’s real & it’s eventually com`g before slither`g back into the night, go`g totally radio-silent 4 another month or two. We’ve no doubt Z the phone`s real @ this point, although (unless) consider`g the lukewarm reception the Storm 2 got, we’re surprised RIM hasn’t pushed harder to get the updated device to market — only th`g V can figure`s Z the carrier partners keep send`g it back 4 tweaks. Speak`g of tweaks, BGR says Z V can expect the phone w/ the 1.2GHz processor (same as the alleged Torch 2 ) along w/ the 3.7-inch WVGA display, 5 megapixel camera, dual-band WiFi w/ UMA support, mobile hotspot capability, & BlackBerry OS 6.1. Word`s it there`ll B @ least 2 versions released around the globe — codenamed Monaca & Monza — & it’s on track 4 the September release. WakeMate sleep-aid recalled due to ‘exploding’ USB charger, gives new mean`g to be`g hot in the sack

Early this morning, Perfect 3rd Inc. — makers of the less than perfect WakeMate wristband — issued the recall 4 the sleep analyzer’s USB charger, which apparently`s the tendency to go up in smoke , & V don’t mean disappear. An e-mail sent out by the company’s CEO @ 12:30 AM states, “we were informed by the customer of the safety incident w/ the black USB chargers.” the little vague if U ask us, consider`g the video V received shows the device “smok`g after exploding.” The recall ensures Z the WakeMate itself`s perfectly safe, & Z the Chinese-manufactured USB cables R @ fault, although (unless) if U ask us, anyth`g Z`s supposed to help U sleep soundly shouldn’t put U in danger of catch`g fire. Microsoft announces 2.5 million Kinects sold in 1st 25 days

Points 4 style, Microsoft, cross`g the 2.5 million Kinect sensors sold mark the convenient 25 days into your global sales of Z ever-so-hackable / sometimes-cool-for-gam`g item. This number factors in Black Friday sales from this past weekend, and`s us really curious as to how well Sony`s`en do`g of late — Sony’s`en mum on Move numbers since it announced 1 million units shipped about the month ago. Microsoft says it’s on pace to sell 5 million Kinect units through this holiday, which leads us to wonder: what sort of 3D video extravaganza could V pull off w/ 5 million Kinects in tandem ? RIM promises to soothe BlackBerry app developers’ woes, says ‘we’re so there’

There’s no question Z the BlackBerry App World hasn’t`en quite the runaway success RIM hoped it`ld be, although (unless) the company`s far from ready to throw in the towel, & it’s now promis`g some new measures to woo new developers & make the lives of current ones the bit easier. Some of those initiatives`ve already`en rolled out — like new payment options — while others includ`g the free analytics service`ll become available to developers in the com`g weeks & months. As RIM’s head of application development, Alan Brenner, explains to The Wall Street Journal , RIM`s`en work`g 4 the past 2 years to make BlackBerrys more developer friendly, & he now says Z “we’re so there.” They may not B quite as close as they think, however, as the WSJ also spoke to the number of developers who used words like “horrible” to describe the current state of things, while lead`g mobile game developer PopCap Games even went so far as to say Z “RIM today`s not really on our radar.” RIM promises to soothe BlackBerry app developers’ woes, says ‘we’re so there’ originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 04:12:00 EDT.
